Krista's level 3 project will be the Large scale V2 rocket that she received as an Anniversary present·during NYPOWER13. It is 12" dia. and over 8' tall, weighing in around 50 pounds or so. A projected altitude on a full M should be near 6000'· After much deliberation about the idea she has decided to do it! While still working on the Rock-sim file, construction has actually started with, well, destruction.· In order to satisfy the Tripoli rules that dont allow a fin can for certification, the fins are removed...

...this is just fine because they were not structurally adequate for a 98 mm, 10,000+ ns motor!This Performance Rocketry kit was originally designed to be built lite and fly on a 54 mm K motor. But now that just wouldnt be "Over The Top" enough for us! Krista will agree that "bigger is better" atleast with rocketry! The fins will be re-installed with a plywood root sandwiched between g10 fiberglass sheets extending all the way back to the motor tube. Then they will be fiberglassed back onto the body tube.

The centering rings are also being cut to fit. This is an extremely easy task with a drill press mounted fly cutter, a technique·that was suggested by John Derimiggio that works excellent. A very affordable method, that is if you already have a drill press!
