BFR Submissions

What is a BFR?  Well, it's a Big Fat Rocket, or a Bad Fancy Rocket, or.........   Actually, a BFR is a larger than large rocket that requires special attention.  BFRs for this event are rockets powered by a single motor of L impulse or greater, or a cluster totaling K impulse or greater.

All BFR projects must be submitted to the BFR chairman prior to the event.  He will review your design and flight profile in advance.  All rockets must still pass an RSO inspection at the launch prior to flight.

Please select the "BFR Submission Form" menu item to submit your BFR entry.

Local BFR rules concerning electronic deployment:

All BFR rockets must carry two (2) altimeters.  They must each be powered by a separate power supply. Each altimeter is to be e-matched to a unique apogee deployment charge.  Main deployment schemes are left to the design of the rocketeer and approval of the BFR chairman.  We recommend dual main charges as well.  In summary: two power supplies, two altimeters, two apogee charges- each set wired so as to be independent of the other.  No exceptions.

The BFR chairman will inquire that you have ground tested your apogee charge and it is sufficient to separate your rocket under flight conditions.
