RANGE RULES

Range Information and Ground Rules Introduction

Although the Geneseo launch site is an exceptional field for rocketry in the Northeast, some limitations are necessary due to it’s proximity to the aircraft museum, college and roads.

Altitude Limit: 9000 feet AGL. Be prepared to present simulation results for flights within 20% or either maximum altitude.

Hybrid Altitude Limits: Due to questionable certification procedures of certain hybrid motors, the total impulse of these motors may be understated when N2O tank temperatures are low. Under such conditions Hybrid waivers may be derated by 20%.

Maximum Total Impulse: Limited to a single M motor. Exceptions may be granted. Contact BFR committee well in advance of the launch to request an exemption.

Complex flights: Limited to M (total impulse of all motors). Airstarts must be electronically controlled. Staged flights may be asked to fly from away cells or prohibited depending on prevailing wind direction and strength. Exceptions may be granted at the discretion of the BFR manager.

Prior Approval: Single motor L/M and complex K require approval from the NYPOWER BFR.

Rod/Rail Angle: Will be angled away from the spectator area and museum even if it results in a long walk for recovery. No exceptions will be made. Any violation of this rule can result in expulsion from the event.
