January 2019 Member meeting minutes

Report of Officers:

Treasurer:  Evan Brown  reported   with the purchase of the a PA system, NSL expenses, the airfare/ hotel and food for Vern and Gleda Estes along with a unforeseen expense from the banquet and  a check for $1,500 to pay for the field this yr. We are in good standing money wise and that we have had 10 membership renewals so far this yr. Evan gave a report on what was in each account(both PayPal , Key Bank and petty cash)

President:  NSL was a great success even with all the money we spent and the little hit we had with the banquet over all everything went well. We have such great feedback from people on how great everything went.  With that success it should help with membership increase and help push up attendance at NY power.

Equipment:  We are good on equipment. Dennis Jurus’s only concern is the alligator clips. They are needing to be  replaced due to  all the uses during NSL and the past year, they have become corroded and will not close. Bill Clune asked if they could be cleaned instead of replaced, Dennis Jurus will look into cleaning them but not sure if that will solve the issue and will look into new clips to have then as backup.

New Business:

MaryBeth passed around signup list for people volunteer for committees.

The July launch is on the 14^th to coincide with the Saturn V anniversary launch. There will RC planes flying the same day, we will launch later in the day when they are done for the day.

MaryBeth asked for people to summit logo ideas for NYPower 22.

NYPower is in need of a on field vendor, AMW will be out west and Kenny will be able to make it, but is low on motor inventory.Dennis Jurus advised that he spoke with Gloria from AMW she is willing to do a bulk order as long as it is $1,000 min order. Dennis Jurus said he will reach out to Chris Rocket Supplies to see if he would be willing to come to NYPower.

Bill Clune brought in a box of broken rockets to be repaired for the kids and asked for volunteer’s  to repair them. Also asked  if anyone would be interested in doing a weekend build session. Everyone was in favor of having a weekend build session later in January.

Membership dues/ NYPower fee

Evan Brown brought up the idea of raising the fee of NYPower fee because we didn’t make ask much money as we should have even with the banquet incident. Bill Clune brought up the fact that it cost $2,200 a year to run the club and that some point we won’t have enough membership to cover the costs. Several options were brought up such as changing the membership fees and charging range fees or charging more for NYPower.

Show and Tell:

Thomas Isaacson: Brought in 3d printed stuff from SMT Designs. He brought in a Finn alignment guide, minimum diameter retainer, nose cone electronic bay, and electronic sled.

Bill Wojtyla: Brought in a Mad Cow AGM Mini Pike

Evan Brown: Brought in a Loc Goblin he used fiberglass to support the internal fillets in hopes of giving it more strength with higher power motors

Raffle:
Brett carrier won the monthly meeting raffle and won a Estes Hornet
