NARAM 62
MARS along with our sister club “the Syracuse Rocket Club” has accepted the honor of hosting NARAM-62, in July of 2020. We realize not many MARS members know what NARAM is, or have ever participated in any competition flying. With that we will do our best to explain what this is all about. NARAM is the “National Association of Rocketry’s Annual Meet” and “Rocket Festival” (Well That Explains it ALL). NARAM is unlike any launch or event MARS has hosted in 20yrs. (MARS has hosted NARAM 37 and 43)
NARAM is a 7 day event of non stop rocketry action
- NAR Board of Trustees open board meeting
- A town hall style meeting with the NAR President
- A sport flying range open ALL WEEK, think Giant NYPOWER or NYPOWER from Hell…. (depending on your point of view)
- The Competition range
- Banquet with awards presentation at the host hotel
- On field BBQ dinner (Maybe in the Hanger under the “Movie Belle”)
- Canon Auction
- The Official NAR Manufacturers Forum (most of the manufacturers attend)
- Scale model competition
- Actual Research and Development Competition (NOT EX Motors)
We think you understand, this is a full week of Rocket FUN FUN FUN
To add to excitement, the Competition Director will be Dan Wolf, the NAR’s Competition Committee Chairman, a loooong ago MARS Member and Former President Emeritus. Dan was the person responsible for securing the Geneseo field for MARS and the first person to fly a High Power rocket here all those years ago. NARAM-62 is very special for Dan personally, as it not only marks a return to Geneseo but the 25th anniversary of the first NARAM he was Director, NARAM 37 held here, in Geneseo.
We know everyone is going to have a lot of questions, we can start with the date, July 25 – 31 2020. There is a LOT to go over and we really don’t want to overwhelm everyone in this first email. A new Forum will be setup in our “Award Winning Website” in the next few weeks, NARAM will be a category in there.
Buckle up everyone this is going to be a VERY EXCITING YEAR ahead, what can you do? Lets start by creating a logo worthy this event!
